AAU Honors the Winners of the Late Dr. Ahmed Al – Hourani’s Third Award of Reciting and Mastering the Holy Quran Among the Students of Jordanian Universities

Under the patronage of AAU President, Prof. Sari Hamdan, the Deanship of Student Affairs organized the activities of the late Dr. Ahmed Al – Hourani’s Awards- (May Allah have mercy on him) - for reciting and mastering the Holy Quran among the students of Jordanian universities on Thursday, 31/1/2019 in the Nizar Qabani Theater. The opening ceremony was attended by Prof. Suleiman Al Lawzi, the Vice President, Mrs. Enas Al-Hourani, the Director of Public & International Relations and a number of faculty deans as well as members of academic & administrative staffs. This award which was held for the third consecutive year was attended by (35) male students and (29) female students from the following 20 Jordanian public and private universities: Al-Ahliyya Amman University, Mutah University, Princess Sumaya University for Technology, the Hashemite University, Zarqa Private University, Ajloun National University, Irbid Private University, AL Al-Bayt University, Amman Arab University, Philadelphia University, Al-Hussein Bin Talal University, German - Jordanian University, Al - Zaytoonah Private University of Jordan, University of Jordan, University of Islamic Sciences, Middle East University, Tafila Technical University, Balqa Applied University, Yarmouk University and University of Applied Sciences.The winners of the two categories (male and female students) were awarded prizes of 500 JD for the first place, 300 JD for the second place and 150 JD for the third place. The jury of male students comprised Dr. Abdul Hamid Al-Kurdi from AAU as president, Dr. Abdul Salam Al-Fendi from the University of Applied Sciences and Dr. Ahmed Dabash Professor of Islamic Faith as members. As for the jury of female students, it consisted of Dr. Asmaa Al-Omari from AAU as president, Dr. Zeinab Al-Qudat from the University of Jordan and Dr. Rola Mohsen Professor of interpretation and Quran Sciences. The juries adopted several criteria in evaluating and selecting the winners of the first three ranks. These criteria include: good performance, recitation and tajweed mastering, beauty of the voice, pause & continue and interacting with the verses. The following male students won the first third places: in the first place was Abdullah Muhammad Uqla Muhammad from Zarqa Private University, in the second place was Salah Eddin from Mutah University and in the first place was Ibrahim Rumaid Juma’h Juma’h from the University of Islamic Sciences. The following female students won the first third places: in the first place was Nada Ismail Jamal Abu Hamda from Amman Arab University, in the second place was Malak Yusuf Ahmed Al-Raie from the Middle East University and in the third place was Juhayna Ahmed Abdul Hamid Al-Katamin from Tafila Technical University. At the end of the competition, the AAU President Prof. Sari Hamdan and Dr. Mustafa Al-Attiyat, the Dean of Student Affairs, honored the members of the jury and handed over prizes to the winners of the first three places.
