AAU honors high secondary school top students in Kuwait
Al Ahliyya Amman University has held a ceremony; in cooperation with the Jordanian Engineers Association in Kuwait and under the auspices of the Jordanian Ambassador in order to honor the top performing students in high secondary school for the academic year 2014 – 2015. Prof. Dr. Sadeq Hamed, President of Al-Ahliyya Amman University has started the ceremony with a speech reviewing the accomplishments achieved by the university over the time span of 25 years, as it aptly deserved to be considered the leading Arab private university. Dr. Hamed praised the great efforts of AAU founder, Dr. Ahmed Al-Hourani, who aspired to create a quantum leap in the higher education sector through the establishment of this University. He also mentioned in his speech the developments achieved by the university, its faculties as well as the specialties it introduces; noting that the university grants Bachelor's degree in 30 majors, and Master's degree in 4 majors. He added that the University is preparing to celebrate its silver jubilee this year; which has become an outstanding success story that is a source of inspiration for many Arab and regional universities, as the university started to introduce new specialties which are considered the first of their kind in the region; such as the optics sciences specialty and the Master in smart transportation systems; which are to be taught next year. Dr. Hamed also asserted that the university has several partnerships with academic bodies worldwide, aiming at promoting the academic level of its outputs and keeping up with the latest scientific developments. He also noted that the university embraces nearly 6000 students representing (58) nationalities worldwide. At the end of his speech, he conveyed thanks and gratitude to the State of Kuwait represented by its leadership and nation for their precious trust in Jordan showcasing is a deep-rooted and renewable trust established by his Majesty King Abdullah II Bin Al Hussein and the Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al–Sabah. The Jordanian Ambassador of Kuwait Mr. Mohammed Al Kayed has delivered a speech congratulating the top performing students and thanking Al Ahliyya Amman University for its annual sponsorship of this ceremony, emphasizing the depth and close relationship between Jordan and Kuwait which has witnessed a progress and improvement over the last few years. He praised the efforts of His Majesty King Abdullah II Bin Al Hussein and the Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Sobah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al–Saboh specially in the accomplishments realized in educational aspects that resulted in increasing the number of scholarships offered from the State of Kuwait to Jordanian students from 4 to 10 scholarships distributed on engineering and humanitarian science fields. Mr. Ghassan Diab, the Chairman of Jordanian Engineers Association's Liaison Committee in Kuwait has also delivered a speech expressing his joy to honor this batch of top performing students as well as his pride towards his pride of the Jordanian excelling students, after wards he thanked the State of Kuwait represented by its Emir, government and nation for their sponsorship to the Jordanians residing in Kuwait. During the end of the ceremony, the President of the University presented souvenirs to the excelling students. The ceremony was attended by members of Jordanian Embassy and the head of representatives of the General Assembly of the Jordanian Community and the representative of the university in Kuwait and a large gathering of the students guardians.
