AAU Concludes Participation in the Fourth Edition of the Sustainable Development Leaders Training Program

AAU concluded its participation in the activities of the training program "Preparing Sustainable Development Leaders" in its fourth edition. The program was organized by the Association of Arab Universities and the Leadership Development Institute in the Arab Republic of Egypt, hosted by the German Jordanian University from May 21-23, 2024. The opening ceremony of the training program was held under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Azmi Mahafzah, Minister of Education and Higher Education and Scientific Research in Jordan, and His Excellency Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research in Egypt. It was also attended by Dr. Amr Ezzat Salama, Secretary General of the Association of Arab Universities, Dr. Ala’aldeen Al-Halhouli, President of the German Jordanian University, Dr. Karim Hammam, Advisor to the Egyptian Minister of Higher Education for Student Activities and Director of the Leadership Development Institute in Egypt, and Dr. Nour Al-Dabbas, Vice Dean of Student Affairs at AAU. Representing AAU in the fourth edition of the program were: Malak Anwar Al-Hayari from the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Leen Ashraf Yassin from the Faculty of Information Technology, Malak Nidal Al-Hourani from the Faculty of Pharmacy, and Moath Wael Al-Alwan from the Faculty of Business. The program included several sessions culminating in a workshop on sustainability, its goals, and its economic, environmental, and social dimensions. Additionally, practical problems were presented to the participating students to solve using the principles and goals of sustainable development. The concept of sustainability was clarified as maintaining and developing solutions without compromising the abilities of future generations. At the conclusion of the program, Dr. Karim Hammam, Advisor to the Egyptian Minister of Higher Education for Student Activities and Director of the Leadership Development Institute, praised the constructive cooperation with the Association of Arab Universities in training and preparing Arab youth. He appreciated the students' distinguished commitment during the program and their innovative ideas that align with the goals of sustainable development.
