AAU and Sofia University Signed Academic Cooperation Agreement
On Wednesday, 11/4/2018, Al-Ahliyya Amman University and Sofia University- Bulgaria signed an agreement of academic cooperation in order to exchange academic experience and visits and provide university scholarships to their students. Also, a department of Bulgarian language was launched for holding courses at Al-Ahliyaa Amman University as well as Arabic department in Sofia University. The agreement was signed by Dr. Sadeq Hamed, the president of AAU, representing AAU and Dr. Theodore Sdlarski, representing Sofia University. Signing the agreement was attended by Al-Ahliyya Amman University CEO Dr. Maher Al-Horani, the Chairman of Education Committee in the Parliament; Dr. Musleh Tarawneh, the Chairman of the Bulgarian- Jordanian Friendship Association; the Deputy, Mehjem Sqour; the Jordanian Ambassador in Bulgaria, Dr. Hasan Barmawi; the Dean of the School of Business in Al-Ahliyya Amman University- Dr. Michel Swaidan; the Dean of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Faculty- Dr. Muath Horani; the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences Dr. Ghaleb Orikat; the Director of Admission and Registration Department; Dr. Alaa Horani and a number of AAU Professors. In his turn, the CEO in Al-Ahliyya Amman University, welcomed Sofia University delegate, assuring his happiness of this agreement which will widen the horizon of co-ed between the two universities and make benefit from each other experience. Thus, Dr. Maher Horani valued the role of the Jordanian ambassador in Bulgaria, Dr. Hasan Barmawi, to have this agreement. Also, he thanked Dr. Musleh Tarawneh, the Deputy, for coping, attending, and supporting the initiatives to develop Jordanian universities levels through holding agreements with leading universities such as Sofia University; which was established 130 years ago and earned an international prestigious reputation of education, academic, and scientific research levels. Horani thanked the Deputy Mehjem for his efforts and support to develop the Jordanian- Bulgarian relations in various aspects, particularly, the Edu- academic. Al-Ahliyya Amman University President Professor Sadeq Hamed, emphasized the importance of this agreement which broadens the horizons of the AAU's students. So, they make benefit of the prestigious academic level of Sofia University, particularly, the academic research. He assured that the priority of AAU is to expand its international relations, particularly the leading universities in particular. He added that what we witness today is a translation of these expectations, and that this agreement will grant the AAU students the opportunity to have a look at an internationally leading university, such as Sofia University. He said that the agreement allows visits and academic exchange among the academic staff in both universities and deepening the cooperation in training and academic research and qualification. On his side, the representative of Sofia University, Theodore Sdlarski, expressed his happiness of being Jordan's and AAU's guest. He pointed to his good impressions which made him love Jordan more, assuring to be a good ambassador of Jordan and to tell his friends about Jordan. Also, he said that this agreement is going to be an entrance for more academic cooperation and experience exchange between both universities. He also emphasizes his ambition to launch a business administration training center in cooperating with Al-Ahliyya Amman University in order to benefit from Sofia University's good reputation which ranked number one among universities in Bulgaria. The Jordanian ambassador, Hassan Barmawi, expressed his pleasure for accomplishing this agreement which is a theme of cooperation between the two friendly countries. He said that this agreement is a good start for more cooperation of all majors between Jordan and Bulgaria, and showed readiness to provide these relations with all facilities to succeed and improve. The Deputy Dr. Musleh Trawneh stated and assured to the press before signing the agreement that the Parliament's and the education committee's priority is the university education development. He indicated that the university laws are waiting for the royal decree. He said that the law provides various characteristics; it demolished all differences between public and private universities. Education quality became the criterion for evaluating public and private universities in Jordan. Likewise, he indicated that the law grants universities independency to create a competitive atmosphere in order to provide the best academic level which qualifies the Jordanian universities to rank on a leading position in the classification of the international universities. Thus, it enhances the Jordanian universities' reputation worldwide.
