AAU Achieves Global Recognition, Ranked in the 101–200 Band in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2025
Al-Ahliyya Amman University has achieved a prestigious global milestone by securing a place in the 101–200 band worldwide out of 2,318 participating institutions in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2025. This ranking assesses how universities around the world are contributing to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), using rigorous comparisons across thousands of universities based on indicators related to education, health, equality, environment, governance, and partnerships.
The university excelled in several key SDGs, notably:
• SDG 4: Quality Education, where it ranked 5th globally, reflecting the exceptional quality and inclusiveness of its academic programs.
• SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities, securing 17th place worldwide, demonstrating its commitment to social justice and equal access to education.
• SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, ranking 51st globally, due to its pioneering health programs and community initiatives.
• SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, where it ranked 37th, highlighting its sustainable resource management policies.
• SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation, achieving 38th place, showcasing its efficiency in water use and hygiene projects.
• SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, placed 61st globally, underscoring the university’s efforts in transparency and institutional effectiveness.
• The university also ranked in the 101–200 band for SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, reflecting the strength of its local and international collaborations for sustainable development.
In light of this remarkable achievement, Al-Ahliyya Amman University was selected to represent Arab universities and share its successful model of advancing the SDGs during the Global Sustainable Development Conference held in Turkey. The event served as an international platform to showcase the university’s pioneering initiatives in education, environment, and community service, attended by representatives from academic institutions and international organizations from around the world.
Commenting on this recognition, University President Prof. Sari Hamdan stated:
"We take great pride in this outstanding achievement, which adds to the university’s legacy of excellence. It affirms our deep commitment to advancing sustainable development locally and globally through education, research, and community engagement. This high ranking reflects the collective efforts of all the university’s faculties and departments in realizing true institutional excellence."
Chairman of the Board of Directors, Dr. Maher Hourani, also remarked:
