A Student Delegation from AAU Visits the Jordan Paralympic Committee
The Faculty of Educational Sciences at Al-Ahliyya Amman University organized a scientific visit for students of the course "Fitness Programs for People with Disabilities" in the Department of Physical Education and Health, as part of its efforts to enhance practical applications and connect them with scientific concepts, terms, and theories. The visit was made to the Jordan Paralympic Committee, aiming to apply some of the theoretical knowledge students had gained in real-life scenarios and to learn about the facilities and equipment available for athletes with disabilities.
The delegation was received by the Secretary-General of the Jordan Paralympic Committee, Mr. Moataz Al-Junaidi, along with Dr. Mohammad Mataawe, the course instructor. Mr. Al-Junaidi expressed his pleasure at hosting the students, emphasizing the committee's goal of engaging with the local community and exchanging expertise with educational institutions. This initiative aims to spread awareness of the committee's activities and the significant role it plays in producing champions who excel in various international competitions, particularly in the Paralympic Games and World Championships, where Jordanian athletes have achieved remarkable accomplishments.
Al-Junaidi highlighted the committee's goal of forming a team of volunteers from Jordanian universities, particularly specialists in disability sports, to contribute to training and preparation programs for athletes. The goal is to build on current achievements and ensure future success.
The students were given a tour of the committee's facilities, accompanied by Dawood Shaheda, Director of Prince Radd Sports Complex. They visited the main hall, training rooms, the football field, the surrounding track, and the shooting range.
Additionally, the students had the opportunity to try modified sports, including wheelchair basketball, goalball for the visually impaired, and interact with athletes with disabilities, exchanging stories about their experiences, achievements, and successes.
