A Seminar Titled “The Role of the Non-profit, Educational, Media Institutions in Strengthening Home Front” Held in APU
Al-Ahliyya Amman University, in cooperation with the Moderation Forum of Culture and Thought, held a seminar on The Role of the non-profit, educational, media institutions in strengthening Home Front. The former Minister of Information, his Excellency Dr. Nabeel Al-Shareef, discussed the recent developments of the Media basic concepts, which have been no longer all about the sender, the receiver, and the message. Since now the receiver has equally and momentarily access to online information provided by news agencies and social media.The former Minister of Education, Dr. Muhammad Al-Wahsh, delivered a speech in which he stressed the role of the ministry in raising the students' awareness of the threats of extremism. He also noted that the rumors and yellow press spread chaos among citizens leading to conflicts. He stressed the necessity to keep our home front unified and to raise the awareness and moderate thoughts in curriculum, whether at schools or universities, through seminars and workshops targeting the youth, which constitutes the more important factor in the country. Prof. Sadeq Hamed, the University President, remarked that the universities are committed to many critical issues especially concerning the youth. That is the only way to lead the country to the top, away from the radical thoughts that call for violence and murder. He also stated the status of Jordan as the Arab nation's heart, a save place for our Arab brothers and sisters.The General Secretary of the forum, Eng. Marwan Fa'ouri, pointed to the wise leadership that resorts to dialogues in solving problems. He also called for making dialogue a culture for individuals and families. The seminar was attended by members of the academic and administrative staff, and students of Al-Ahliyya Amman University.
