A joint forum for the Center for Women's Health with the Center for Women's Studies of the University of Jordan and the Jordanian Breast Cancer Program of Al-Hussein Cancer Foundation
In a pioneering national initiative, the Center for Women's Health of Al-Ahliyya Amman University, the Center for Women's Studies of the University of Jordan and the Jordanian Breast Cancer Program of Al-Hussein Cancer Foundation met with a group of leading professional and academic leaders from representatives of public and private health sector institutions interested in women's health issues in Jordan, under the theme of women's health reality and aspirations. The meeting drew the most beautiful bonds of partnership and exchange of scientific, methodological and practical ideas and experiences between the various sectors interested in women's health issues in Jordan. The forum opened with a welcome speech from the Director of the Center for Women's Studies at the University of Jordan, Dr. Mayson Al-Otoom, in the presence of the Acting President of the University of Jordan, Prof. Dr. Salama Al-Nuaimat, Vice President for Humanitarian Faculties, Professor Dr. Ahmed Al Majdouba, and Vice President for Scientific Faculties, Dr. Inam Khalaf, during which she highlighted the main objective of the meeting, which is to look closer at the health issues of Jordanian women in a comprehensive concept that includes the cultural, community and humanitarian meaning of health to come up with the most important health priorities as this is fundamental issue linked to the existential security and stability of society. Dr. Reem Al Ajlouni, Director of the Jordanian Breast Cancer Program, focused on the importance of participatory and integrative pattern of women's health and the exchange of ideas and experiences scientifically, systematically and politically with the participation of various sectors interested in women's health issues, including academics, doctors, pharmacists, nurses and researchers in various disciplines, who form a key pillar for improving the health outcomes and well-being of Jordanian women. Dr. Montaha Gharaiba, President of the Advisory Board of the Center for Women's Health at Al-Ahliyya Amman University, conveyed the greetings of the President of Al-Ahliyya Amman University, Prof. Dr. Sari Hamdan, and his absolute support for the forum, thereby highlighting the role of the Center for Women's Health at Al-Ahliyya Amman University in developing a national agenda that includes initiatives, campaigns and activities based on the different health priorities related to women's health to localize initiatives in different workplaces to achieve aspirations and the sustainability of outcomes.The forum consisted of three panel discussions focused on women's health in politics and scientific research, which was moderated by Dr. Mohammed Rasul Tarawneh, and women's health in health programs and healthcare services moderated by Dr. Sawsan Majali, while the last session dealt with women's health from a social and gender perspective, which was moderated by Dr. Maison Al-Otoom. Following up on the outcomes of the forum, Dr. Rana Abu Hwaij, Director of the Center for Women's Health at Al-Ahliyya Amman University, confirmed the determination to adopt this agenda within the center's strategic plans in partnership with the public and private sector to achieve the aspirations of Jordanian women's health to reach high quality health service.
