The Bachelor of Audiology and Speech Program is one of the first of its kind in Jordan and the region. It was designed based on the requirements of the labor market and the needs of the Jordanian community for the services of specialists in hearing and speech, in light of the absence of a bachelor’s program at the time of the program’s establishment. The program includes 142 credit hours, including courses in basic medical sciences, anatomy, linguistics, phonetics, fluency, and swallowing difficulties. The program also consists of the physical sciences of sound, hearing, and balance sciences. The program includes supporting specialized sciences such as psychology and special education. To ensure that the student masters the skills and competencies in the various fields required by the labor market, the program also includes advanced clinical training in the speech and language services and hearing and balance services sectors. The Hearing and Speech Center on the campus of Amman Ahliyya University hosts two speech and hearing clinics that are fully equipped with all the equipment and evaluation and therapeutic devices that the student needs for training and clinical application. The actual training in hearing and speech includes 675 hours of actual training during the study in the clinics of Amman Ahliyya University Center for Hearing and Speech to prepare the student for the labor market in the hearing and speech sectors. This number may reach 800 training hours if the student registers for additional training courses if there is a need to keep up with the training requirements required in his country of residence.

  • Acknowledge and recall basic terminology in the field of audiology and speech pathology and to relate these terms with communication disorder.
  • Know signs and symptoms of all different communication disorders and their etiologies.
  • Apply all different assessment procedures in the field and being able to interpret assessment results.
  • Diagnose all types of hearing and speech, language disorders and being able to apply appropriate treatment.
  • Design and perform all assessment and treatment plans independently.
