Introduction:

Al-Ahliyya Amman University (AAU) adopts a comprehensive inclusion policy that guarantees equal access to education and campus life for students with disabilities. The University ensures that all individuals, regardless of physical, sensory, intellectual, or learning disabilities, are provided with equitable academic opportunities, accessible facilities, and individualized support services.

AAU maintains an institutional Disability Support Office under the Sustainability and Development Office (SDO), which oversees accessibility measures, accommodation procedures, and continuous monitoring of students’ academic progress. Data on students with disabilities are systematically collected each academic year in collaboration with the Deanship of Student Affairs and the Admission and Registration Unit, ensuring data accuracy, transparency, and confidentiality.

The University provides adaptive learning tools, specialized software, and barrier-free infrastructure (including ramps, elevators, tactile signage, and accessible classrooms) in compliance with both Jordanian Higher Education standards and UN SDG10.2 requirements. In addition, all new construction and renovation projects follow universal design principles to ensure full accessibility for all students.

As of the 2024/2025 academic year, AAU records indicate that students with disabilities represent an integral and active part of the campus community, contributing to academic, cultural, and extracurricular life. The inclusion of students with disabilities is continuously supported through awareness campaigns, academic counseling, and partnerships with national institutions such as Al-Hussein Society for Training and Inclusion, reflecting AAU’s commitment to equitable education and sustainable social empowerment.

This framework aligns directly with SDG10 – Reduced Inequalities, particularly targets 10.2 (Inclusion and Empowerment) and 10.3 (Equal Opportunity), and is monitored through AAU’s Sustainability & Global Ranking Dashboard, ensuring measurable impact and continuous improvement.
