Reasonable Accommodation Policy (10.6.10)

Policy guaranteeing reasonable accommodations and funding mechanisms for persons with disabilities.

Introduction:

Al-Ahliyya Amman University (AAU) adopts a comprehensive Reasonable Accommodation Policy that ensures equitable access, participation, and opportunity for all students, faculty, and staff with disabilities. This policy reflects the University’s strong commitment to inclusivity and equal rights, aligning with the principles of SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities).

AAU guarantees that individuals with disabilities receive appropriate academic, physical, and technological accommodations based on their specific needs and without imposing undue burden. The policy covers a wide range of adjustments, including accessible learning materials, modified examination methods, adaptive technologies, ergonomic workspaces, and flexible attendance arrangements. Financial support mechanisms are embedded within the policy, allowing eligible students to benefit from partial or full fee waivers.

Implementation of the policy is overseen by the Institutional Development Department in collaboration with the General Supplies and Services Department and the Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences, ensuring accessibility in both academic and operational settings. In addition, the University’s Disability Inclusion and Support Policy (2025) and its associated Accessibility Framework provide clear procedures for requesting, approving, and monitoring reasonable accommodations, guaranteeing transparency and accountability.

Through these institutional measures, Al-Ahliyya Amman University reinforces its dedication to fostering an inclusive academic environment where every individual can thrive, contribute, and achieve success regardless of physical, sensory, or learning differences.
