Inclusive Education Policy (4.3.5)

Policy ensuring equal access to all educational activities regardless of ethnicity, religion, gender, disability, or status.

Introduction:

Al-Ahliyya Amman University (AAU) upholds the principles of equity, inclusion, and diversity as fundamental pillars of its academic mission. Through the Equal Opportunity and Non-Discrimination Policy (PS_17_SDG04_3), the university ensures that all individuals students, faculty, staff, and community members enjoy equal access to education, employment, and university services without discrimination or bias.

The policy explicitly prohibits any form of discrimination based on gender, religion, ethnicity, nationality, disability, socioeconomic background, or any other personal status, reinforcing AAU’s commitment to an inclusive academic environment that values respect, fairness, and justice. It applies comprehensively across all faculties, departments, academic programs, and administrative units.

AAU promotes a safe and inclusive learning environment by eliminating barriers to participation and fostering a culture of diversity and equal opportunity. The policy also ensures transparency in admission, assessment, and promotion processes, and establishes clear procedures for addressing discrimination complaints promptly and confidentially.

Through continuous monitoring, periodic reviews, and awareness programs on anti-discrimination and inclusion, this policy demonstrates AAU’s active role in advancing SDG 4 (Quality Education)SDG 5 (Gender Equality), and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities) affirming its dedication to lifelong learning and equitable access for all members of society.

1. Sustainability and International Ranking Center

The Sustainability and International Ranking Center (SIRC) at Al-Ahliyya Amman University (AAU) serves as a central institutional unit responsible for implementing and monitoring the university’s Equal Opportunity and Non-Discrimination Policy (PS_17_SDG04_3). The center ensures that all individuals across the university community—students, faculty, staff, and visitors—have equal access to education, employment, and campus services without any form of discrimination or bias.

The Center oversees university-wide efforts to promote inclusion, accessibility, and social equity, in line with AAU’s core values of fairness, respect, and integrity. It leads initiatives aimed at supporting students with disabilities, improving accessibility in facilities and digital platforms, and organizing awareness campaigns on equality and inclusion.

By integrating inclusion and non-discrimination into AAU’s broader sustainability framework, the Center works closely with all faculties, deanships, and administrative units to ensure compliance with institutional policies and international standards. This dual role reflects the university’s strategic commitment to building an inclusive academic environment that empowers all learners and eliminates barriers to participation.

Through these continuous actions, the Sustainability and International Ranking Center exemplifies AAU’s dedication to SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals)—affirming its position as a national model for equitable and inclusive higher education.
