Sustainable Commuting Actions (11.4.2)

Initiatives promoting sustainable commuting through incentives, facilities, or transport schemes.

Introduction:

Al-Ahliyya Amman University (AAU) implements a comprehensive set of sustainable commuting initiatives that promote low-carbon mobility, reduce dependence on private fuel-based vehicles, and enhance walkability and transport efficiency across campus.
These actions, driven by the Sustainable Commuting and Housing Practices Policy and the Sustainable Commuting Measurement and Promotion Procedure, support AAU’s long-term vision for a healthy, accessible, and environmentally responsible campus.

AAU’s sustainable commuting initiatives include incentives for walking and carpooling, digital mobility solutions, EV-support infrastructure, remote-work systems, landscape improvements for pedestrian comfort, and academic activities that raise awareness of sustainable urban mobility.
These actions strengthen campus sustainability, reduce emissions, and align AAU with SDG11 and Jordan’s national green mobility strategies.
