Dedicated office or officer responsible for diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies and programs.
Diversity & Inclusion Office (10.6.5)
Introduction:
Al-Ahliyya Amman University (AAU) implements its diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) framework through the Office for Ethical Compliance (OEC), which functions under the Human Resources and Institutional Development Unit and in close coordination with the Sustainability and International Ranking Center.
The OEC serves as the university’s dedicated institutional body responsible for promoting fairness, respect, and ethical integrity across all academic and administrative units. It ensures that all students, faculty, and staff are treated equitably—free from any form of discrimination or harassment—regardless of gender, nationality, disability, religion, or socioeconomic status.
The office oversees the implementation of AAU’s Anti-Discrimination and Anti-Harassment Policy (PS45 – SDG10.4), monitors compliance, manages reporting mechanisms, and provides ethical guidance and awareness training to strengthen inclusion across the campus.
In collaboration with the Deanship of Student Affairs, Human Resources Department, and Strategies and Policies Committee, the OEC integrates diversity and inclusion principles into staff recruitment, student admissions, and community engagement initiatives. The office also reports annually to the Deans’ Council on policy outcomes and institutional improvements, ensuring transparency, accountability, and continuous enhancement of AAU’s inclusive environment.
Through this ethical and inclusive governance framework, AAU demonstrates its unwavering commitment to SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities) and SDG 5 (Gender Equality) by embedding diversity, equity, and inclusion into all aspects of university life.
