Initiatives to promote conscious and responsible water use within the university community.
Campus Awareness (6.5.6)
Introduction:
Al-Ahliyya Amman University (AAU) is deeply committed to fostering a campus-wide culture of conscious and responsible water use. Through a coordinated system of awareness campaigns, training programs, student-led initiatives, and integrated communication platforms, the university promotes long-term behavioral change and sustainable consumption habits among students, faculty, and staff.
AAU’s water awareness efforts are anchored in a formally approved governance framework that ensures all initiatives are structured, institutionalized, and continuously evaluated for impact. These policies and procedures guide the planning, delivery, and monitoring of campus-wide awareness programs:
- Water Management Education and Awareness Policy
- Water Usage Awareness Campaign Procedure
- Campus Water Consumption Management Policy
- Community Water Management Education Procedure
Through this governance-driven approach, AAU ensures that its awareness initiatives are measurable, continuous, and aligned with international sustainability standards. These efforts directly support SDG 6.4 (Water-Use Efficiency), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), and SDG 13 (Climate Action), while reinforcing SDG 4.7 (Education for Sustainable Development) by embedding sustainability values into the daily practices of the university community.
