ARABIC FOR NON-NATIVE SPEAKERS
Arabic is the fourth most spoken language in the world. This is due to its long and rich history that have significantly impacted the international scene now and in the past. The growing importance of Arabic has been reflected in the increasing number of students wishing to learn it, either for the purpose of mastering a language that was the medium for many significant scientific and cultural contributions, or simply of being at the cutting edge of political and social developments in one of the world’s most strategic regions.
Al-Ahliyya Amman Univrsity’s Tafa’oul program has been launched to offer Arabic language courses to non-native speakers. The courses are designed to meet the objectives and needs of students while offering them the chance to spend time in Jordan and enjoy its rich culture and history.
Objectives
- Address the needs of non-native speakers who wish to learn the Arabic language.
- Employ various techniques to develop oral and written communication skills in Arabic language.
- Improve students’ communication skills in Modern Standard Arabic (MSA).
- Develop better intercultural awareness of Arab culture in general, and Jordanian society in particular.

- A placement test.
- A well-designed study plan for all levels of instruction.
- Carefully selected textbooks for each level of instruction.
- The use of multimedia and audio-visual technologies in language teaching.
- A variety of exercises, worksheets and activities covering all levels of instruction.
- Equal focus on the four basic communication skills of listening, reading, writing and speaking.
- A functional approach to the teaching of vocabulary and language structures.
- A focus on Arabic dictionary use, especially the use of word stems and roots.
- A language exchange partner assigned to each student.
- A number of excursions to places of historical and cultural interest in Jordan.
