ARABIC FOR NON-NATIVE SPEAKERS
The Arabic for Non-Native Speakers Program is one of the flagship programs of the Language Center. It is designed for learners from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds who wish to acquire Arabic for academic, professional, cultural, or communicative purposes.
The program adopts the ACTFL (American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages) proficiency framework and offers all proficiency levels, ensuring a structured, internationally benchmarked learning pathway.
Al-Ahliyya Amman Univrsity’s Tafa’oul program has been launched to offer Arabic language courses to non-native speakers. The courses are designed to meet the objectives and needs of students while offering them the chance to spend time in Jordan and enjoy its rich culture and history.
ACTFL Proficiency Levels Offered:
- Novice (Low – Mid – High)
- Intermediate (Low – Mid – High)
- Advanced (Low – Mid – High)
- Superior
Instruction focuses on developing learners’ abilities in listening, speaking, reading, and writing, with an emphasis on real-life communication, cultural awareness, and academic language use. Courses are delivered by qualified instructors with experience in teaching Arabic as a foreign language and are supported by modern educational technologies and interactive learning environments.
Immersive Study Packages in Jordan
In addition to its academic Arabic language courses, the Language Center at Al-Ahliyya Amman University offers affordable immersive study packages for non-native speakers of Arabic who wish to combine language learning with cultural immersion in Jordan.
These packages are designed to provide a comprehensive and comfortable learning experience, allowing students to focus fully on their Arabic studies while the University arranges all essential services during their stay.

- Mid-term programs: 6–8 weeks Suitable for learners aiming to advance at least one ACTFL sub-level with balanced language and cultural immersion.
- Extended programs: 3–4 months Designed for learners seeking substantial proficiency development, academic Arabic skills, or preparation for advanced study and professional use.
