Sustainability Report – SDG12 (12.0)

List of reports and supporting evidence related to this goal.

Introduction:

Al-Ahliyya Amman University (AAU) demonstrates a strong institutional commitment to the principles of responsible consumption and production (SDG 12) by continuously monitoring, measuring, and improving its resource efficiency, waste management

systems, and procurement standards. The University has developed comprehensive sustainability policies and procedures addressing ethical sourcing, plastic reduction, waste recycling, and hazardous waste disposal, ensuring that consumption patterns on campus remain sustainable, transparent, and environmentally sound.

AAU’s sustainability reporting process follows an evidence-based framework, integrating data from academic, administrative, and operational units. The reports detail measurable progress toward waste minimization, sustainable food sourcing, and supplier engagement. Furthermore, the university links its internal initiatives with other SDGs such as SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), and SDG 13 (Climate Action) emphasizing a holistic, circular-economy approach.

The annual sustainability reports also highlight achievements across teaching, research, community engagement, and green campus management. Through strategic actions and performance metrics, AAU aims to achieve net-zero waste generation and foster a culture of sustainable production and consumption within the campus community and beyond.
