Research on Industry & Innovation [List] (9.1)
Introduction:
Al-Ahliyya Amman University (AAU) places applied research, technological innovation, and sustainable industrial development at the heart of its academic mission and national impact strategy. In alignment with SDG 9, the University actively promotes research that strengthens resilient infrastructure, drives sustainable industrialization, and fosters innovation across engineering, health sciences, digital technologies, environmental systems, and business applications.
AAU’s research agenda is guided by a comprehensive policy framework that includes the Academic Resources & Targeted Research Expansion Policy, the Industrial & Commercial Research Funding Policy, and the University Spin-Off Support Policy. These policies ensure that research activities are aligned with national priorities, emerging industrial needs, and global technological trends.
The University emphasizes interdisciplinary research that connects engineering, artificial intelligence, digital health, renewable energy, circular economy technologies, electric vehicles, robotics, and advanced manufacturing. These research domains are supported by modern laboratories, specialized facilities, engineering workshops, simulation centers, and digital fabrication units, enabling faculty and students to experiment, prototype, and innovate.
AAU’s research development model integrates strong industry collaboration through memoranda of cooperation with leading organizations such as KIA Jordan, the First Paper & Cardboard Recycling Company, Optimum Partners, and the Global Academy for Digital Health & AI. These partnerships facilitate joint research projects, industrial problem-solving, prototype testing, and technology adoption across multiple sectors.
Internationally, collaborations with institutions like MARA University of Technology (UiTM) in Malaysia support advanced research mobility, scientific collaboration, and the co-development of sustainable technological solutions.
Through targeted investment in applied research, innovation-driven curriculum design, and strong industry linkages, AAU continues to position itself as a national hub for research excellence, technology development, and sustainable industrial transformation, fully aligned with the objectives of SDG 9.
