Inclusive Recruitment Actions (10.6.3)

Targeted initiatives to recruit students and staff from underrepresented or disadvantaged groups.

Introduction:

Al-Ahliyya Amman University (AAU) is deeply committed to promoting inclusive recruitment practices that ensure fair and equitable access to education and employment for all individuals, particularly those from underrepresented and disadvantaged groups. Guided by the principles of diversity, equality, and inclusion, the university has institutionalized a series of targeted initiatives aimed at expanding participation across all demographics including low-income students, refugees, persons with disabilities, and women in science and leadership roles.

AAU’s inclusive recruitment framework operates through a dual-track system

  1. Student Recruitment Programs that provide accessible admission pathways, scholarships, and outreach campaigns to attract applicants from marginalized communities and developing countries.
  1. Staff Recruitment Policies that guarantee equal opportunity in hiring, retention, and promotion while encouraging gender balance and diversity across academic and administrative units.

The Human Resources Department, in collaboration with the Admission and Registration Department, the Sustainability & Global Ranking Center, and the Deanship of Student Affairs, continuously reviews recruitment metrics and implements targeted interventions to increase diversity in both the student body and workforce.

Moreover, the university partners with local NGOs, ministries, and international institutions to conduct awareness and outreach programs in underserved regions ensuring that higher education and employment opportunities at AAU are accessible, inclusive, and merit-based. These ongoing initiatives are documented and monitored annually as part of AAU’s Sustainability Report to ensure transparency and accountability.

Through this integrated and data-driven recruitment strategy, AAU demonstrates a strong institutional commitment to reducing inequalities in access to education and employment, directly contributing to SDG 10.2 (Promote social, economic, and political inclusion for all) and SDG 10.3 (Ensure equal opportunity and reduce inequalities of outcome) while setting a regional benchmark for inclusive higher education.
