Al-Ahliyya Amman University (AAU) has adopted the Blue Ocean Strategy to drive global innovation, inclusivity, and sustainable development. By pioneering novel educational offerings and fostering a vibrant learning environment, AAU successfully attracts a diverse community of students and faculty from around the world. To date, the university has forged partnerships with 25 international institutions, facilitating academic exchange programs and offering graduates competitive employment opportunities overseas. AAU’s commitment to global engagement is reflected in improved international rankings, alignment with the United Nations’ SDGs, and active student participation in global challenges. A 45% surge in internationally co-authored research underscores this expanding academic impact. Targeted marketing at prominent education fairs has driven a 63% rise in international enrollment. New programs in Dentistry, Artificial Intelligence, and Cybersecurity, designed in response to labour market needs, now account for 40% of tuition revenue, reinforcing AAU’s financial growth.

As Jordan’s first leading private university, Al-Ahliyya Amman University (AAU) continues to redefine its role in global higher education to address local and international challenges, thereby enhancing its reputation and brand. AAU implements the Blue Ocean Strategy, aiming to create new opportunities in higher education that is innovative and inclusive. This allows the university to attract distinguished and creative local and international faculty and students, increasing its contributions to sustainable development, ensuring financial stability and growth.
Several specialized centers and departments at AAU contribute actively to the university’s internationalization efforts, with the Global Engagement Center (GEC) playing a leading role. The GEC oversees the development and management of strategic international partnerships and institutional collaborations ensuring AAU remains a hub for global academic exchange and innovation. The GEC is dedicated to creating meaningful global experiences for students through a wide range of exchange and mobility opportunities. Currently we collaborate with 25 international institutions, enabling students to participate in academic exchange programs and joint projects that broaden their global perspectives and enhance their employability. An example of GECs initiative is the Nurses4Vienna project launched in 2024, in collaboration with FH campus which offers AAU nursing graduates the opportunity to begin their professional careers in Vienna. This program provides intensive German language training and cultural preparation, equipping graduates to work effectively in Viennese clinics and hospitals. To date, 46 nursing graduates from Jordan have been successfully recruited, with the number expected to grow.
The Sustainability and International Ranking Center is dedicated to improving the university standing in international ranking, enhancing THE Impact (First in Jordan), excelling in the QS World University Rankings within the prestigious 801-850. In addition to receiving local and International Quality Assurance Certificates in academic programs. Additionally, it supports AAU’s sustainability efforts, ensuring that the university aligns with global standards and integrates the United Nations’ SDGs into its academic and research activities. Through this center, AAU students are given the opportunity to participate in international challenges focused on the SDGs, fostering global awareness and contributing to innovative solutions on a worldwide scale.
Our research has grown significantly, as there is has been an increase of 45% in internationally co-authored publications. These efforts have been driven through our Deanship of Scientific Research and the Hourani Center for Applied Scientific Research.
AAU Marketing and PR team participant in over 10 international education exhibitions annually attracting a diverse student body from across the Middle East, Africa, and Asia showing an increase of international student enrolments by 63%.
We are continuously studying international labor market trends and student demand to develop relevant programs. In 2023, we launched the Faculty of Dentistry, which now enrolls 200 students 25% of whom are international. Our Nursing and OT and PT programs have also become highly attractive; with over 70% international student. We have also introduced programs in areas such as Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity with over 30 % of students who are international with an overall international student’s enrollment contribution to 40% rise in tuition fee income.
