Policies ensuring protection from discrimination and harassment across all university activities.
Anti-Discrimination & Anti-Harassment Policies (10.6.4)
Introduction:
Al-Ahliyya Amman University (AAU) maintains a comprehensive Anti-Discrimination and Anti-Harassment Policy (PS 45 – SDG10.4) designed to ensure a safe, fair, and inclusive environment for all members of its community—students, faculty, and staff alike. The policy establishes a zero-tolerance framework for any form of discrimination, harassment, or unfair treatment based on gender, nationality, disability, religion, or socioeconomic background.
AAU’s policy is institutionally embedded within its Strategies and Policies Committee, the Sustainability and Ranking Office, and the Human Resources and Institutional Development Unit, ensuring both governance-level oversight and operational accountability. The policy is publicly available and reviewed annually to align with national legislation and international best practices in equity and inclusion.
The Anti-Discrimination and Anti-Harassment Policy aims to:
- Protect the rights and dignity of every individual by maintaining a discrimination-free and harassment-free university environment.
- Promote equal opportunity, respect, and mutual understanding within all academic and administrative units.
- Provide clear reporting, monitoring, and response mechanisms for complaints, supported by the Anti-Discrimination and Anti-Harassment Complaints Procedure.
Training and awareness programs are regularly conducted for staff and students to strengthen the culture of equity and respect, while periodic policy reviews ensure continuous improvement and compliance. Through this structured approach, AAU demonstrates its unwavering commitment to inclusivity, diversity, and ethical integrity, reflecting its alignment with SDG 10 – Reduced Inequalities and SDG 5 – Gender Equality.
