MENTORING/PEER SUPPORT FOR UNDERREPRESENTED GROUPS
"AID's mentoring programme is a mentoring scheme that connects students from underrepresented backgrounds with experienced professionals to develop their planning and interpersonal skills.
Our mentoring programme is part of the university's Widening Access and Progression schemes and iniatives. We support a range of staff and student equality networks that contribute effectively to the University equality and diversity agenda on issues relating to gender, LGBT, ethnic minorities, disability and religion/ beliefs. In addition, we have developed effective mentoring programmes for AAU Student & Staff. Eligible students normally are from Students from low income households, Students of Minority Ethnic backgrounds, Students with a disability/dyslexia, Refugees (have experienced serious disruption to formal education), Students with specific learning difficulties and mental health problems.
