INTRODUCTION

The National Technology Parade is a prestigious annual event hosted by one of Jordan’s universities in collaboration with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers – Jordan Section (IEEE–Jordan Section).

The parade aims to inspire engineering and information technology students across Jordanian universities to pursue innovation and develop solutions that elevate the quality of life. It fosters an environment where students transform their academic knowledge into practical technological applications, addressing societal challenges, advancing community services, and contributing to the growth of the national economy.

The parade originated in 2007 as a joint initiative between UN Women and Jordanian universities, coinciding with the rapid advancements in engineering and information technology, particularly in pioneering and entrepreneurial projects. The concept was realized in 2008 when the University of Jordan hosted the inaugural National Technology Parade, marking a milestone that brought together engineering and IT students in a large-

scale public event. This platform enabled participants to transform their academic projects and ideas into competitive, marketable innovations.

The first edition of the parade received wide resonance and distinctive media coverage, gaining great appreciation from various productive sectors. This fortified the organizers to establish the idea of holding it annually, hosted by one of the Jordanian universities, to serve as a scientific and creative platform aimed at maximizing the intended benefits and ensuring continuity.

Over successive editions, the parade witnessed a significant increase in the number of projects, universities, companies, organizations, and institutions participating, along with a remarkable improvement in the quality and diversity of projects. Some of these projects presented pioneering solutions to problems facing Jordanian society in particular and the world in general.

Each edition includes an exhibition featuring the active participation of companies and institutions from both the public and private sectors. This exhibition provides students with invaluable opportunities to engage directly with industry leaders, gain comprehensive insights into local and regional labor markets, showcase and promote their projects, and explore potential avenues for funding. Furthermore, it serves as a gateway for students to identify promising career opportunities. Complementing the exhibition, the parade presents a rich program of scientific seminars, lectures, and workshops that spotlight the latest advancements in engineering and information technology.

Mission2

To organize an annual national technology event that empowers Jordanian university students to showcase their creative ideas and technological projects, exchange knowledge and expertise, and gain practical experience—enabling them to establish a strong and impactful presence in the labor market.

OBJECTIVES

Arising from the vision and mission of the parade, a set of objectives has been established, focusing on a vital segment of Jordanian society—youth, who represent the foundation of the nation, the driving force of its progress, and the cornerstone of its future.

The parade provides a distinguished platform to nurture and support the talents and ideas of academics and university students in Jordan, with the aim of achieving the following:

  • Encourage creative and innovative thinking, develop practical skills, and align student projects with the needs of the market and local community.
  • Promote leadership and teamwork, while strengthening the link between education and industrial sectors.
  • Equip participating students with presentation and communication skills, enabling them to showcase their projects in an atmosphere of fair scientific competition among peers.
  • Bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application by fostering applied projects capable of solving societal challenges and contributing to community development.
  • Transform prevailing mindsets regarding employment opportunities, empowering youth to become creators of job opportunities rather than seekers.
  • Establish effective communication channels between students and diverse industrial and social sectors.
  • Provide initial financial and logistical support to help launch pioneering entrepreneurial projects.
