Welcome to the Center for Oral Diseases Studies (CODS). We at CODS aim to provide an inspiring environment for researchers, academics, and healthcare professionals involved in studying oral health and diseases. The center is based at the Faculty of Dentistry to serve the vision of the Faculty to be a leading institute for oral health research at local and international levels. “CODS” provides researchers with a productive atmosphere and modern facilities to conduct research on all aspects of oral health and diseases including basic research, epidemiological studies, and clinical trials. We at CODS believe in interdisciplinary research and encourage “knowledge sharing” among various disciplines to promote our understanding of the broad sense of oral health and, ultimately improve patient care. We at CODS work closely with other research centers and facilities such as Pharmacological and Diagnostic Research Center (PDRC), Faculty of Biomedical Engineering, Hourani Center for Applied Scientific Research (HCASR).
CENTER BREIF
The Center for Oral Diseases Studies (CODS) was established in the Faculty of Dentistry at Al-Ahliyya Amman University, and approved by the Ministry of Higher Education, in 2023 as the first dedicated research center for oral and dental diseases in the region. “CODS” aims to conduct high quality and interdisciplinary research in various fields of oral health with particular emphasis on community needs and translating research findings into patient care. The center works closely with other facilities and research centers including the Faculty of Biomedical engineering, Centre for Pharmacological and Diagnostic Research (PDRC), and Hourani Center for Applied Scientific Research (HCASR). “CODS” also collaborates with international societies and research centers involved in various aspect of oral health. The center provides an inspiring environment for researchers and academics involved in oral health and diseases, and has four main domains of expertise: 1) Molecular basis of oral diseases with special emphasis on oral cancer 2) Applications of artificial intelligence in oral health and disease detection 3) Oral health in vulnerable individuals and patients with special healthcare needs 4) Salivary diagnostics and early detection of diseases
