Interdisciplinary Research Teams
AAU's four interdisciplinary research teams are the operational core of the university's cross-disciplinary
research agenda. Each team is formally constituted under the Interdisciplinary Research Committee, brings together
researchers from different colleges and disciplines, and operates with defined leadership, thematic priorities,
and accountability to the university's strategic research objectives.
These teams translate AAU's interdisciplinary research strategy from institutional commitment into active
scientific practice, bridging the gap between disciplinary expertise and integrative knowledge production.
Framework for Interdisciplinary Research Teams
Each team operates as a structured collaborative platform with defined leadership, identified membership,
clear thematic priorities, and measurable research outputs aligned with AAU's Interdisciplinary Research
Strategy 2025–2030. Team performance is monitored through the Interdisciplinary Research Performance
Dashboard using bibliometric indicators drawn from Scopus and SciVal, including FWCI, Topic Prominence,
and cross-disciplinary subject coverage.
Teams are expected to develop working plans, pursue joint publications in Scopus-indexed interdisciplinary
journals, seek external funding opportunities, and contribute to collaborative research partnerships within
and beyond AAU. The performance of each team is reviewed periodically by the Interdisciplinary Research
Committee against indicators related to research output, disciplinary integration, publication quality,
and societal relevance.
