A Jordanian woman has turned her passion and love of sport into a successful 22-year career that has seen her rise to one of the most senior posts in the industry.

Rana Nathmy Al-Saeed was appointed Secretary General of the Jordan Olympic Committee (JOC) in 2023, steering the direction of the Kingdom’s sport under the Presidency of HRH Prince Feisal Al Hussein.

It has been a fascinating journey for Al-Saeed, who graduated from Amman Al-Ahliyya University in 2001 with a Bachelor’s degree in finance and Banking which led to her entering the sports sector with a position in the Archiving Department at the JOC.

Her Major allowed her to understand the financial aspects of running sport, particularly the national federations, resulting in a move to the JOC’s Development Department.

“My studies helped me to better understand the work of national sports federations and the sports system in general,” she said.

“The allocation of federation budgets and their correlation with performance analysis marked a pivotal juncture in my tenure at the JOC, one I was committed to refining.”

Her rise through the sporting administrative ranks included roles such as Director at the Sports Information Federation and Programme Director at the Jordan Basketball Federation, working across the entire scope of the sporting sector.

She was appointed Director of the JOC Sports Federations Department, recognition for her impactful contribution to the Kingdom’s sports sector development.

Al-Saeed’s personal developmental journey, driven by unwavering determination, serves as a model for industrious individuals who believe in the importance of continuity and diligence in achieving goals.

During her tenure as Director of the Sports Federations Department, she helped to transform the way National Federations developed and executed their annual plans to elevate Jordan's overall sports standing to unprecedented heights on the global stage.

Her welcome appointment as JOC Secretary General last year marked a new chapter in her journey and was a recognition of her growing reputation as a top-class sports administrator.

Embracing sport as a source of national pride for all Jordanians, Al-Saeed is committed to showcasing Jordanian sporting talent on the international stage, using it as a source to inspire the next generation.

The JOC has a goal for sport to be embraced into the everyday lives of all Jordanians, and Al-Saeed strongly believes in its transformative influence to empower communities economically, foster tourism, enhance public health and nurture social cohesion.
