Mohammed Abdelaziz
Owner & Chief Executive Officer of Union Steel Trading / Qatar
Graduation Year: 2000
Faculty: Business School
I began my professional career in Qatar in 2001 in the field of auditing, where I gained valuable experience in financial analysis, accounting, reporting, and professional business practices. This experience helped me develop strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a solid foundation in understanding business operations and making informed decisions.
A significant milestone in my career was my transition from auditing to the steel trading industry. Working with one of the well-established steel trading companies in the GCC provided me with extensive practical experience in procurement, sales, and supply chain management. It also deepened my understanding of the needs of construction and industrial projects and strengthened my skills in managing customer and supplier relationships, negotiating with local and international suppliers, and coordinating supply operations efficiently.
Over the years, these accumulated experiences have helped me develop a broader commercial perspective and strengthen my ability to adapt to changing market conditions. They have also reinforced the importance of effective communication, sound decision-making, and building long-term professional relationships based on trust and mutual commitment.
I currently serve as the Owner and Chief Executive Officer of Union Steel Trading in Qatar, a company specializing in the trading and supply of steel to construction companies, industrial businesses, contractors, and workshops, meeting their material requirements for a wide range of projects and operations. In this role, I oversee business operations, strengthen customer and supplier relationships, negotiate commercial agreements, coordinate procurement and supply activities, and develop business relationships with international markets.
Throughout my professional journey, I have gained valuable experience working with customers and suppliers from different countries. This international exposure has strengthened my understanding of global trade, negotiations, and cross-border supply chain management, broadened my business perspective, and contributed to the development of my leadership and commercial capabilities.
My advice to students and graduates is to remain open to new opportunities and experiences and never limit themselves to a single career path. Every experience, even one that may not be directly related to their academic specialization, can contribute valuable knowledge and skills to their professional development. I encourage them to continue learning, develop practical skills alongside their academic knowledge, build strong professional relationships, and view challenges as opportunities for growth and progress. Success requires patience, commitment, adaptability, and a willingness to embrace new opportunities.
“Be strong like steel, flexible enough to adapt, and determined enough to turn every challenge into an opportunity for success.”
