The Psychology Program was established in 1990 with the foundation of the university. Where students are provided with theoretical and applied frameworks for psychological specializations (industrial, experimental, clinical, counseling, and scientific research), through multiple courses, and field training at the Counseling and Special Education Center at the university, in addition to governmental and private institutions and organizations. There are diverse career options available to psychology graduates, Past Al-Ahliyya Amman University students work in mental and general health settings, business and industry, education, media, marketing, and research. The Psychology Program awards a Bachelors degree in Psychology.

Admission requirements of the Bachelor degree in the Psychology program include a High School Certificate or equivalent in the following:

  • Developing theoretical and practical experiences to understand and explain human behavior in the various fields of psychology.
  • Improving the research skills necessary to conduct research and studies in the various fields of psychology and linking them to the needs of society.
  • Contribute to addressing psychological issues in the community.
  • Enhancing partnership with local community organizations interested in psychological areas.
  • Empowering students and preparing them to work in mental health centers.
  • Enabling students to apply specialized tests to diagnose psychological conditions.
  • Development of positive attitudes towards psychology.

  • Application of psychological theories in the diagnosis and treatment .
  • Develop and implement psychological treatment plans and therapeutic processes.
  • Administration and scoring of intelligence, cognitive, and personality scales and tests as well as interpreting them.
  • Conduct clinical screening, assessment, diagnostic and therapeutic interviews.
  • Ability to write a detailed and comprehensive psychological Report.
  • Abide by the ethical principles and code of conduct of the profession of clinical psychology.
  • Ability to carry out scientific research in different fields of clinical psychology.
  • To keep abreast with all new research findings and developments in the field of Clinical Psychology.
  • Promote awareness of mental health and develop sound attitudes towards psychotherapy.
