Representing Her Highness Princess Mona Al Hussein, Princess Sana’a Assem Sponsors the Opening of the 8th Hearing and Balance Health Conference
Her Highness Princess Sana’a Assem, on behalf of Her Highness Princess Mona Al Hussein, sponsored the 8th International Hearing Health Conference on Thursday, 12 May 2022, in the presence of Health Minister Dr. Firas Al Hawari. The conference was organized in cooperation between Al-Ahliyya Amman University, the Arab Academy of Hearing and Balance, the Ministry of Health and the Egyptian Medical Association, and in cooperation with the German University of Lübeck, where a large number of specialists from Arab and foreign countries participated in it over the period of 3 days. Khaled AbdulHadi Al Issa, President of the Arab Academy of Hearing, said in his opening speech that the Academy, established in 2012, is a non-profit organization, representing all Arab countries, and aims through ongoing conferences and workshops to provide medical education for those who specialize in hearing, balance, speech, ENTs and pediatricians. Furthermore, he added that the Academy stays up to date with all the new scientific research in addition to participating in international events and exchange of experiences among specialists in different fields. He noted that the Academy held six workshops and eight conferences, thanking Jordan and Al-Ahliyya Amman University for hosting the conference. On behalf of the university president, Dr. Khalid Al Kaabana, welcomed the participants and guests at the opening ceremony, reviewing the milestones of innovation and achievements realized by Al-Ahliyya Amman University, the first private university in Jordan, including its leadership in the specialization of hearing and speech since the year 2000 in addition to establishing specialized clinics in this field and its efforts to raise the standard of this field and those who work in it. Dr. Mohammed Al Masri, Secretary General of the Arab Academy of Hearing and Balance explained that the Academy has concluded agreements of training and educational programs with many ministries and universities to raise the scientific and experience levels of specialists in many countries including Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, UAE, UK, USA and Germany. More than 200 scientists, researchers, and specialists from 25 countries, including 18 Arab countries, participated in the course. Dr. Shiraz Mubarak, President of the 8th Hearing and Balance Conference, mentioned in her welcoming speech the importance of upgrading the scientific level of specialists, praised the creativity of the scientific committee of the conference by selecting scientific topics and then invited participants to attend the next conference in Hammamet, Tunisia. Professor Dr. Adel Abdel Maksoud then reviewed the scientific topics of the conference which included workshops, lectures, and panel discussions to increase the participants' scientific knowledge. Dr. Jake Bishop, representative of the German Academy of Lübeck, noted the importance of the experiences being transferred, noting that the German Academy's degrees are accredited at the global level. Dr. Tarek Ghannoum, President of the Society for Hearing and Speech in the Arab Republic of Egypt, praised the importance of this conference as an important part of the series of specialized conferences that work to give young doctors more knowledge, experience and skills, thanking Arab institutions and countries that have provided a number of scholarships for this specialization. He also invited participants to attend a specialized conference which will take place in Egypt following the Amman and Tunisia conferences. The GCC partner was represented by Dr. Hussein Abdul Rahman, President of the UAE ENT Association, who conveyed the greetings of specialized associations in the GCC, and then highlighted the activities of the Scientific Conference on Hearing and Pronunciation, which is scheduled to be held in Dubai at the Exhibition Center in January next year. At the end of the opening session, commemorative shields were handed over to Arab and international sponsors, partners, heads of delegations and senior guests. On the sidelines of the conference, Her Highness Princess Sana’a Assem inaugurated the exhibition featuring the latest hearing devices and new technologies exhibited by the sponsoring companies in the field of hearing health.
