The Faculty of Agricultural Technology Participates in the Regional Conference of the Food and Agriculture Organization for the Near East
Under the patronage of the Prime Minister, Dr. Bisher Al-Khasawneh, and in the presence of the Minister of Agriculture, Khalid Hanifat, the thirty-seventh session of the Regional Conference of the Food and Agriculture Organization for the Near East - Ministerial Meeting was launched. The conference is hosted by the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan - Amman from March 4th to 5th, 2024.
Al-Ahliyya Amman University, represented by its dean, Dr. Sabhia Saifan, participated in the opening session and conference proceedings.
The regional conference is convened pursuant to Article IV, Section 6 of the Organization's Constitution, with the participation of member states in the Near East and North Africa region, representatives of United Nations bodies, specialized agencies, observers, selected university groups, civil society organizations, and private sector institutions.
The regional conference is of particular importance as it provides an opportunity to discuss regional priorities in line with the Organization's strategic framework for the period 2022-2031. Among the priorities is the adoption of agricultural technology and the use of genetic resources to achieve sustainable food security.
It is noteworthy that during the conference, the Food Security Platform for the region was launched, with its headquarters at the Ministry of Agriculture in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
