The Public Relations Department was founded as part of the University in 1990. PR is no longer limited to the traditional concept of following up secondary procedures that routine work requires in all institutions, work connected with the institutions’ staff members and all people pursuing matters with the institution. Rather, PR is now defined as ‘human relations engineering’ since it is the most viable means of creating civilized and modern relations that can have the right impact. PR is nowadays an essential component of media studies in major institutions and universities where the objective is to create new concepts and deeper understanding of the theory and application of public relations. PR plays a an important role in developing channels of interaction within the same institution and with the community at large, thus acquainting the outer world with the University, its academic status and the role it plays in the community.
